Summer always gets me thinking about delicious beverages that I wanna be drinking poolside (even though I don’t have a pool) or on the beach wearing a big ol’ floppy hat! This Strawberry Lemon Basil Spritzer is so refreshing, you’ll be tempted to bathe in it. Especially on these hot summer days!
When I’m on a Whole30 I always like to get a little “fancy” when it comes to staying hydrated. There is only so many La Croix’s a girl can handle and I’m terrible at drinking just plain water. If you are feeling a bit fiesty and want to add a little more oomph to the spritzer, you can add in a shot of rum or vodka. But honestly, it is super spectacular with out it!
You will need to muddle the fruit and basil together. If you are like well dang, can’t make this cause I don’t have a muddler; you can actually muddle with anything that has a fat base. I have used ice cream scoop handles, meat tenderizers, the handles of wooden spoons. You name it, I’ve probably used it! A muddler would be ideal though haha, you can get them pretty cheap on Amazon or at Target!
Let’s get to the recipe so that you guys can get going on being SO HYDRATED! This makes 2 6-8 oz drinks.
Ingredients
- 6 large strawberries
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 6-8 fresh basil leaves
- Sparkling water
- OPTIONAL: rum or vodka
Instructions
- Place strawberries and basil into a glass and muddle until strawberries are completely smashed up and basil is very fragrant.
- Add in the lemon juice and stir.
- Next place some crushed ice into the cup.
- Pour in your sparkling water and enjoy!
I don’t mind the pieces of fruit that I get when drinking this spritzer, but if that is a bit weird to you, you can strain it with a fine mesh strainer. You can also used flavored sparkling water if you feel like it!
