SMOKED BANG BANG CHICKEN WINGS

These healthy Smoked Bang Bang Chicken Wings are to die for!  They are fantastic for dinner or even to bring to a party as a side dish! Tossed in a sriracha aioli and then smoked until crispy and golden brown; these are seriously delicious!

Smoked Bang Bang Chicken Wings

We have been hitting it hard with smoked chicken wings lately, like my Ranch Chicken Wings and my Jamaican Jerk Wings.  They are just so dang easy to make, and always result in happy tummies from the entire family.  Chicken wings are actually the only type of chicken one of my kids will eat because it isn’t “chewy”  Kids are weird. I digress.

These Smoked Bang Bang Chicken Wings have so much flavor and its made with everything you probably have in your pantry!  These are spicy, but not too crazy.  Although, you can go nutso on the spice depending on how you feel and what you like.  I have kids who all happen to like spicy food, so this meal really works for them!

Smoked Bang Bang Chicken Wings

I’ve mentioned before on my Instagram that the secret to getting crispy skin on chicken is using arrowroot powder.  You can also use baking powder if you prefer!  And I know the recipe is called Smoked Bang Bang Chicken Wings, but you can always do these in your oven as well if you don’t have a smoker! Both ways are bomb!

SMOKED BANG BANG CHICKEN WINGS

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 1 hour, 15 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour, 25 minutes

Yield: 6-8

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken wings
  • 1/4 cup arrowroot powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • Fresh Parsley or Cilantro as garnish
  • SRIRACHA AIOLI:
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tsp coconut aminos
  • 2 tbsp sriracha sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your smoker to 250 degrees F.
  2. Pat dry your chicken wings and place into a bowl.
  3. Add the arrowroot powder, avocado oil, paprika, garlic powder, chili powder, and sea salt to the chicken and toss to combine.
  4. Place on the grill and let smoke for 30 minutes.
  5. Turn smoker up to 400 and smoke for another 30-45 minutes until internal temp of chicken equals 165. Flip and rotate chicken a couple times throughout the last 30-45 minutes.
  6. While chicken is cooking make your sriracha aioli. Set aside.
  7. When the wings are ready place into a bowl and take 2-3 tablespoons of the aioli and toss the chicken in it until well coated.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro or parsley and dip the wings in the remaining sauce
  9. OVEN METHOD:
  10. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  11. Prepare chicken the same as above, but place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
  12. Bake for 30 minutes then flip each wing and bake for another 30 minutes.
  13. Turn off stove and turn broiler onto high.
  14. Broil the wings for 5-7 more minutes until nice and crispy.
  15. Remove, toss with sauce, garnish, dip, and enjoy!

Smoking the wings at a lower temperature will give you that smoky flavor which in my opinion is the absolute best!  And don’t forget, if you feel the need to pack on the heat, you can always add some more sriracha to the sauce or just over the wings themselves!
