Hands down, grapefruit is one of my favorite fruits out there. When I was younger my friend and I used to sprinkle the dry kool-aid packs over it for an extra sour taste. Kids. Are. Weird.
Luckily, my kids haven’t been introduced to my old habits! We haven’t had grapefruit in our house for awhile and the other day while shopping at our local Whole Foods my kids asked if we could get some. Heck ya I said! So I grabbed a bagful of ruby reds and a couple oro blanco grapefruits.
Now usually I just cut the fruit in half and we eat it, nice and cold, but since it is a bit chilly this morning I decided to broil them. If you haven’t ever broiled your grapefruit, you are missing out. The heat brings out the sweetness to the fruit and makes it all the more swoon worthy!
I broiled mine plain because I’m boring, but here are a few things you can add to the top to jazz it up:
Brown sugar
Honey and cinammon
Honey and sliced bananas
Broiled Grapefruit
-Place grapefruit in a baking dish under broiler for 5-8 min. Keep checking to make sure it doesn’t burn
-If you are adding any toppings do so before you place under the broiler.
