COOKING WITH BLUE APRON

Let’s talk meal subscriptions!  Have you ever had one before?  I haven’t, and so I was very excited when Blue Apron reached out to me to see if I wanted to try out a box to see what I thought.  Ummm heck yah, I’ll totally cook with Blue Apron; it’s everything I’ve dreamed about!  Delicious, restaurant quality recipes, everything portioned out for me, and delivered straight to my door step.  The only thing missing was the cook, but lucky for me I have a bunch of kids I can choose from to make these scrumptious meals for me! (see, look how much fun she is having lol)

Blue Apron takes away the task of finding a recipe, then going to the store and getting the ingredients, then having to think about what to do with all the extra ingredients.  And I know as a busy mom, sometimes you just don’t have time/don’t want to think about meals, but you want something healthy and fresh on your table!

Blue Apron recently partnered with Whole30 to bring some exciting dishes into your kitchen.  And let me be the 1st to say…..these meals are BOMB!  I was a bit skeptical at first though.  When I pulled out the recipe card and the ingredients I thought “that’s it?!” But once we started cooking, you could see (and smell) the flavors coming together. And boy oh boy did it smell divine!

What I also like about Blue Apron is that it showed me (and by me I mean my oldest daughter lol) a new way to cook collard greens. I had never “steamed” them in the oven, but that’s what Blue Apron told me to do, so I did, and now I’m excited that I have a new way to cook them up!

And I know you are asking yourself, Jenn, this sounds great and all, but is it worth it?  And I say YES. (sorry to yell, but it’s true)

Perhaps now you are saying “but Jenn, they gave you this box to try, don’t you have to say yes?”  No, no I don’t.  If this truly sucked, I’d tell ya, because if I were on the other end I’d want to know the truth. So, in my house, this is how I usually do things when I receive product.  I tell my husband that I bought the box to try out and then I let him tell me what he thinks about it.  Nothing more honest than your husband telling you what’s up!

This is what he said….

“This is really good.  Is this from that box you got the other day, or one of your own recipes?”

“I like this because after a long day of working and after school activities, the last thing you want to do is figure out what to eat, and this makes me not go out and buy $10 worth of fast food that I will regret later”

“I just wish it made a bit more for the entire family”

Blue Apron is finishing up their series of Whole30 meals at the end of February, so if you want to try a Whole30 meal, you have a few weeks still!!  And major BONUS:  they are offering $40.00 off your 1st month of Apron (that’s 10 bucks off each week for 4 weeks)  #raisetheroof.
