JALAPENO CILANTRO BREAKFAST SAUSAGE PATTIES

I don’t know about you, but there is only so much chicken apple sausage I can eat. It’s good, don’t get me wrong, but just like how people can get tired of eggs, I get tired of chicken and apple sausage. Hashtag majorly. And all the “fun” flavors at the store either have a crap ton of sugar in it or are so.dang.expensive. I mean $8.99 for a 4 pack of sausage stuffed with pineapple. Yah, umm no thanks, I’ll just do it myself and get twice as many!! Plus I know exactly whats going into them!

These jalapeno cilantro breakfast sausages definitely have some bite to it, obviously. If spice isn’t really your thing here are a couple more breakfast sausage recipes that may float your boat more. Breakfast Meatballs and Savory Breakfast Sausage .  And per usual, you can freeze these and save them for a rainy day. Well it doesn’t need to be raining, it could be bright and sunny! You may freeze them uncooked or cooked, although I prefer the latter because then you just need to defrost and heat up in your skillet in the morning!

JALAPENO CILANTRO BREAKFAST SAUSAGE

 

 

JALAPENO CILANTRO BREAKFAST SAUSAGE PATTIES

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground pork
  • 1-2 jalapeno, finely chopped
  • 1 clove of garlic, minced
  • 1/3 c cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp dried minced onion
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • 1 tbl avocado or olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tbl of oil in a skillet.
  2. In a bowl mix all ingredients together.
  3. Roll about 2 tbl worth of meat together and then flatten into a patty.
  4. Place in hot pan and let cook 5 minutes.
  5. Flip and let cook another 5. Remove and set on a paper towel lined plate
  6. Repeat until all the sausage patties are done.

To freeze these bad boys wait until they are completely cool. I personally like to place wax paper or parchment paper between each one so that they don’t stick after they are frozen.  Place in a freezer bag and store 3-6 months.  To cook, defrost in the fridge overnight and simply reheat with a little oil in a pan.  Place a lid on top of the pan and let it cook for a couple minutes each side until warm. Serve with those eggs you are so tired of having!! LOL.

Also, not gonna lie, I’ve totally eaten these for lunch AND for dinner.  So they are quite versatile as far as deciding what meal you want them with!
