After what seemed like forever, our blood orange tree is FINALLY producing. If you have never had a blood orange before, I suggest you go get one. The best way I could describe the taste is between an orange and a raspberry.
I like them a bit more tart like the picture above, but if you like sweeter choose one that has a dark skin.
Anyyyywayyy, I’ve been trying to come up new ways to eat them and then it hit me….why don’t I make a “salsa” that could go on our fish. So I did, and it was delicious. So delicious that I probably would just eat it like a citrus salad or something!
BLOOD ORANGE SALSA
-2 blood oranges, peeled and sliced into chunks
-2 tbl capers
-handful of fresh parsley
-handful of fresh cilantro
-juice of 1/2 blood orange
-salt and pepper
-3 green onions, chopped
–Mix all ingredients together.
–Place on top of fish or just eat it as is 🙂
